This is very disappointing. I've been a practicing witch for 30 years, so I could overlook how basic this is, if that was my only problem with it. The disclaimer (yes, there's a disclaimer) was enough to raise suspicion, and I should have stopped there and thrown this in the Goodwill box. Much of what is in here is inaccurate, the bulk of the material seems to be things the authors admit to making up (although they were apparently guided by angels and psychic visions, so, you know...), and at least one of the authors admits to being very new to the craft. Not sure what makes them expert enough to write a whole book, but apparently they are "celebrity witches" so I presume that's the selling point. Again, I should have paid more attention to the disclaimer: a book on spirituality and religion is "entertainment?" Seriously insulting. I bought this to see what new material is out there. Big mistake. If you're new to witchcraft, please read Laurie Cabot's books, or Starhawk. Misinformation is damaging to the craft, and to other witches.

I wish there had been more of a focus on "backing up" claims of their versions of random historical facts that are peppered throughout. I was also put off by the g-slur and the romanticized version of Romani people. Apparently, their nomadic magic allowed them to be welcomed in Europe with opened arms instead of, you know, being forced into exile wherever they went and were so reviled that they were quickly made victims of the Holocaust. It seemed disrespectful to minimize their displacement and struggles, which probably informed some of their magical traditions, just to give some basic instructions on how to read tea leaves. It was things like this and other historically inaccurate statements that didn't sit well with me.And as much as I would classify myself as a beginner, I felt like this was a bit *too* basic for me. There was also a lot of focus on angels, which isnt my particular thing, but it might be of particular interest to someone else who's thinking about getting the book. However, the book itself is gorgeous. I wish all magic books were this attractive and high quality. I'm a huge fan of hard covers, and those are hard to come by in this field. If you want a beautiful book that has all the (very, very) basics like basic herb and crystal meanings, intros to different types of magic and divination, and a few super basic spells, then this is for you. Just get your history of magic (and the people who have performed it) elsewhere.

As others have pointed out, this book is a bit misleading. Yes, it has a little bit of the basics but certainly NOT enough to claim that it is a 'pedia' of any type. On top of this, the author makes many claims that are not backed up in any way. Plus, as a practicing witch I was highly uncomfortable with the use of "angels" as most witches and Wiccans do NOT work with angels or at least not entities that they would refer to as angels as this is an Abrahamic tradition and I'm not Abrahamic (i.e. not Christian, Zoroastrian, Jewish, etc.) the entire books smacked of Christianity under the disguise of Wicca as if the author is still suffering from 'Christain Guilt' which is verified when you read that the author is new to the craft and so honestly has zero business writing about it! I gave the book two stars because it has a beautiful presentation, it really is a nice cover with heavy stock paper, well bound but otherwise the book content itself is just not Wicca.

Missing a lot of information, mixed a bunch information up. I thought this was a parody book, its hard to take things seriously in it. Don't waste your money

As a witch and a chaote who has been practicing for years, I was very interested in seeing what this book had to offer, and decided to buy it as a way to do a little "paradigm shifting" towards a more Wicca-oriented paradigm. For the most part, I find it a very accesible and interesting book; maybe not exactly my usual cup of tea, but definitely one for beginners and for those who feel truly called into the different facets of Wicca as a religion and witchcraft as a practice. I recommend it mostly for beginners, but know that many an experienced witch may find some value and interesting twists in the approach the authors take.

I love, love, love, this book! I already have it bookmarked and have it handy for any quick lookups. It has some very interesting reads in it that I was able to learn from.

So excited to read this book, it was recommended to me by other sisters and I'm interested to see what's in store for me. <3 Super durable.

I'm very happy to have bought this book! Although I'm not brand new to Wicca, I found a lot of value in reading this information in an organized, concise manner. Many of our favorite Wiccan authors can be kind of verbose and in my experience, don't put a lot of effort into structuring the information in a clear manner. I would recommend this book as THE first book to anyone interested in learning more about Wicca. I'd also recommend it to anyone looking to fill in any gaps or holes in their understanding of practice. It might not be for someone who's actively practiced for a long number or years, but I think there is valuable information in here, even for those who aren't brand new. The pages are nice and thick and the cover is beautifully. It's the most well-made Wicca book I've got and will hold up to being used as a reference. Would love to see more books from this author....perhaps expanding on what is included here.
