Wow, wow, wow! It's not often you come across a book that's written for a specific industry but has lessons and advice that span multiple areas. I am not a lawyer yet H.S. Orr's insights are still helpful in my field. Also, I have a friend who IS a lawyer and after reading just a few pages she said there was advice in there that she wished she had when she first started her law career. Highly recommended!

Point by point presentation of the pros and cons of a career in big law vs small law or becoming an entrepreneur. What I liked the most was that the information can easily cross over into other areas, such as big corporations.

Truly insightful and informative guide to operating in the legal arena. I found these lessons applicable to the world of business as well. Well written, progresses logically, and easy to read. Thank you for sharing these observations so that we may all benefit from your experiences.

Heather Orr has written a remarkably accessible, conversational book that sets out with admirable clarity what constitutes to thrive in BigLaw, SmallLaw & Solopreneurship. This graceful book is an extremely useful guide for young lawyers. I wish I had read it prior to starting my legal career in BigLaw." - Ana-Maria Satmar, LL.M. student at University of Pennsylvania Law School, experienced corporate/M&A lawyer with a BigLaw

It's wonderfully written in a way that even a non-lawyer can be interested in and understand, taking you behind enemy lines to understand the inside world of being a lawyer - just in case you ever need to protect against one some day.

This book is a good read. Interesting, pragmatic , and downright motivational. Clear common sense roadmap. Great book for anyone wondering "what is my next step". I look forward to more books from this author.

As an attorney in the middle of my career, I wish I would have had this handy, plainspoken guide when I was a law student. Orr simply yet thoroughly lays out three of the main career settings attorneys typically land. She explains the pros and cons of each, allowing the reader to choose a well-informed career path. If you think you want to be a lawyer or have a loved one who does, this book is for you.

This should be mandatory reading for first year law students. We'd have a lot less lawyer jokes if lawyers actually behaved this way.
